Winter Hair Care Tips

The winter months are quickly approaching. Dry cold winter air mixed with dry furnace heat can take its toll, here’s a few tips to help get you through:

•Invest in a humidifier for your bedroom. It’s good for your hair and your skin.

•Switch up your products. Your hair and scalp need more moisture, consider switching to a hydrating shampoo regimen during the winter months.

•Turn down your water temperature when you wash. That boiling hot water feels oh so good, but it’s drying your scalp and strands out.

•If you’re experiencing dandruff or an itchy scalp try using a scalp care regimen.

  • We're big fans of Kevin Murphy Scalp Spa line, it has everything you need to exfoliate and soothe your scalp!

•This one goes for year round but skip the heat when you can. Go longer between blowouts, embrace the dry shampoo and conditioner to extend your style.

•Don’t go outside with wet hair! In freezing temperatures water crystallizes and expands. Hello broken hair!

•Invest in a quality deep conditioner/masque

Our favorites:

  • Kevin Murphy Hydrate Me Masque

  • Kevin Murphy Young Again Masque

  • Eleven Miracle Hair Mask

•Opt for earmuffs over knit hats. Your hair will thank you.

•Sweaters are notorious for creating the dreaded underneath massive dreadlock. Keep a brush in your purse and detangle when you can. Or opt for a braid, top knot or party pony!

•Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! Healthy Hair starts at then scalp, below the surface, proper hydration promotes healthy hair growth.

•Serums are your friend. Apply them to your midshaft and ends on your damp hair. Use a dry conditioner or shine spray to remoisturize dry hair.

We recommed:

  • Kevin Murphy Young Again

  • Kevin Murphy Shimmer Shine

  • Kevin Murphy Dry Conditioner

  • Eleven Miracle Hair Treatment

•Got Frizz? Don't you dare touch those dryer sheets! They leave a waxy coating on your hair and cause more dryness and brittle hair. Repeat the above step for staticky flyaways!

Ask your stylist what regimen they recommend for you!
